<image:caption>I completed my undergraduate degree at Brown University in Comparative Literature and fiction writing, my medical degree from Weill Cornell Medical College, and my residency and chief residency in Adult Psychiatry at NYU. In the past, I worked in health literacy in Guatemala and Harlem, and prior to opening my practice, I worked as an inpatient psychiatrist and then medical director for the inpatient psychiatric unit at NYU Langone Medical Center, where I treated diverse patients admitted in crisis with a broad range of mental illness. There I trained residents and medical students, earning a teaching award for my efforts. I am on the voluntary faculty at NYU School of Medicine.</image:caption>

<image:caption>I graduated Medical School at the University of Pisa, Italy, where I also obtained a PhD in the neurobiology of affective disorders. I moved to the US to conduct research on functional genomics at the National Institutes of Health. I then completed a residency in Adult Psychiatry at NYU as well as training in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy at Columbia University. Before starting my practice, I worked at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in multiple roles. I conducted research on mood and anxiety disorders, taught medical students and supervised psychiatry residents providing care to a diverse adult population at the Mount Sinai psychiatric outpatient clinic. In addition I contributed to the establishment of a clinical service providing mental health treatment to health care workers during the Covid-19 pandemic. My research resulted in several publications and was presented at national and international conferences. I am on the voluntary faculty at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. I am also a consultant for the United Nations in New York.</image:caption>
